Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a FACTS Controls Engineer to join the Power Quality Solutions team in Cary, North Carolina. You will design, implement, and test sophisticated control algorithms for FACTS systems, using the MACH control framework and MATLAB-based tools.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, participate in HIL testing, and contribute to grid modernization projects across North America and beyond while following a hybrid onsite work model in Cary, NC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of controls engineering experience, preferably in power systems.
• 2+ years of programming experience across multiple environments and languages.
• Experience designing and testing PI, PID, or similar control algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain control algorithms for FACTS applications.
• Program and configure the MACH control system to meet project requirements.
• Perform control logic development, debugging, testing, and deployment activities.
• Conduct Hardware-in-the-Loop testing using real-time simulators.
• Create models and simulations for power electronics and power systems.
• Support factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and site startup efforts.
• Prepare technical documentation, submittals, test procedures, and records.
• Collaborate with project teams and global engineering groups to ensure project success.
