Job summary

The San Diego LGBT Center is seeking a Facility Technician to support daily maintenance, custodial care, safety, and the appearance of Center properties in San Diego County. You will perform routine repairs, painting, plumbing, low-voltage work, and set-ups to ensure welcoming, clean, and safe spaces for staff, tenants, and visitors.

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Facility Operations, you will work with the Facilities Coordinator to coordinate vendor access, schedule work, stock

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with colleagues, management, and external contractors.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Proficiency with PC/Windows-based environments, and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs including painting, plumbing, low-voltage electrical work, minor fixture and equipment repairs, and other facility-related repair needs.
• Identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions.
• Conducting preventive maintenance and responding to emergency repair requests.
• Ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Landscaping and maintaining the appearance of grounds.
• Assist with general daily housekeeping.
• Work with the Facilities Coordinator on scheduling, site access, and follow-up with vendors.
• Provision of consumable maintenance materials needed at each site.
• Organize and maintain all tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper order and safe to operate.
• Assist with orientation/onboarding of new staff to Center facilities.
