Job summary

The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain and repair its buildings and equipment in Las Vegas. You will perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems for safe operation.

Responsibilities include inspections, managing work orders, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for staff and visitors. Requires at least two years of related experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined with basic shop skills (electrical, plumbing and carpentry).
• Must read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Must work a flexible schedule, including Sundays and evenings, as necessary.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to work with various materials and tools and operate heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Regularly inspect and perform preventative maintenance on key building systems (i.e. HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Support Operations Manager in drafting and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of The Center's building exteriors (i.e. Groundskeeping, landscaping, pest control).
• Troubleshoot, repair and replace damaged building components (i.e. drywall, flooring, ceilings).
• Perform cleaning, carpentry and painting tasks.
• Ensure assigned equipment is in proper working order and available for use.
• Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all building equipment.
• Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, organized and functional environment.
• Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.
• Acts as liaison between employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures and ensure safety standards are followed throughout the facility (local, state and federal).
• Participates in the emergency preparedness planning team.
• Applies or assists with application for required environmental permits.
• Maintains an inventory of supplies; reorders as needed.
• Assist with building renovations and upgrades.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
