Job summary

JLL is hiring an Operating Engineer in Houston to oversee the facility's mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, ensuring safe, efficient operations. The role combines hands-on maintenance with quality oversight and requires keeping records and coordinating with contractors.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with HVAC/electrical trades training, and can obtain a Universal Technician Certification for CFCs within 90 days. This on-site position offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with two years of trades schooling in HVAC/electrical.
Universal Technician Certification for CFCs or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Knowledge of central plant operations including chillers, cooling towers, and pumps.
Ability to analyze system operations and implement corrective action.
Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work outdoors as needed.
Familiarity with MS Word and Excel; willingness for shift work.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, and fire/safety systems.
Monitor central plant equipment such as chillers and cooling towers; document readings.
Review service summaries and identify recurring issues for improvement.
Coordinate with contractors, manage inventory, and ensure safe, compliant operations.
Support hazardous materials policies and maintain a clean, safe workplace.
