Job summary

City of Apple Valley is seeking a Facility Attendant to supervise public skating and hockey activities, assist on the ice, and perform general facility maintenance. You will help with skate distribution, safety, and customer service while promoting Parks & Recreation programs under guidance from arena staff.

The role requires reliable, energetic individuals with basic skating and math skills, able to work independently or in a team, and capable of basic first aid.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Pass out skates for public use and collect them after use.
• Maintain even flow of traffic during public skating sessions.
• Assist Resurfacer drivers by moving hockey nets during and after games.
• Operate cash register.
• Keep work area neat, clean and organized at all times.
• Perform general cleaning of the facility.
• Promote Parks & Recreation resources and programs.
• Provide basic first aid to injured facility users.
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service to all users.
• Accepting applications until position(s) are filled.

Job description

The position of Facility Attendant requires responsibility and accountability for the safety of skating participants on and off the ice. This position will assist on the ice during open skating and hockey games. General cleaning and caring for facility. Control and monitor public skating sessions ensuring safe activity on and off the ice.

• Pass out skates for public use. Collect and put away when skating is over.
• Maintains even flow of traffic during public skating sessions.
• Assists Resurfacer drivers by moving hockey nets during and after games.
• Operates cash register.
• Keeps work area neat, clean and organized at all times.
• General cleaning of the facility.
• Knowledgeable about and promote Parks & Recreation resources and programs.
• Uses basic first aid procedures to assist injured facility users.
• Provides friendly and helpful customer service to all users.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Arena Staff.Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
• Must have good customer service skills. Must be pleasant, energetic and self-motivated.
• Must have basic skating skills.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment and make responsible decisions according to established procedures.
• Must be able to maintain a safe and clean environment.

• This position is a variable hour position: Monday - Friday, 4:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
• Saturday - Sunday, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. (Shifts may be 6 - 8 hours each)
• Rate of pay dependent on qualifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in an ice rink setting.
• Experience working in concessions.
• Experience in administering basic first aid.
