Job summary

YMCA of Greater Kansas City is hiring a front desk/facility attendant to greet members and the public, enforce facility rules, and assist with tours and information. You will verify memberships, respond to inquiries, and help maintain clean, organized spaces across the gym and activity areas.

The role emphasizes friendly service, safety awareness, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• Must have good communication skills including phone skills.
• Ability to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
• Highly organized, detail, and goal oriented.
• Must be able to work with a diverse group of people in a friendly and consistent manner.
• Must be able to reflect a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.
• Greet members, participants, staff and general public in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Enforce Y policies and guidelines for the basketball court, walking/running track, weight room, circuit room, teen center, and/or computer lab, in a courteous manner.
• Verify all members and participants using the facility.
• Answer phone lines according to YMCA phone procedures.
• Respond to needs and questions with accurate information.
• Handle complaints in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, complaints, needed repairs, incidents, or accidents immediately.
• Give tours and educate members and prospective members on services, programs, events and volunteer opportunities.
• Keep gym, basketball court, walking/running track, weight room, and circuit room clean and well organized.
