Job summary

First Student is seeking a hands-on Facilities Technician to support the Bronx facility's maintenance, repair, and upkeep. You will troubleshoot diverse building systems, perform preventive maintenance, and install new components to keep the location safe and functional.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair facility components and systems, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection, and other building equipment
• Inspect and test equipment and perform preventive maintenance
• Complete mechanical work and minor repairs on facility systems and equipment
• Install new components and systems as needed
• Perform general facility maintenance and upkeep
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
• Properly handle and dispose of non-hazardous and hazardous liquid and solid waste
• Operate tools and equipment safely and appropriately
• Identify maintenance concerns and communicate repair needs to management
• Support additional facility-related projects and maintenance needs as assigned
