Job summary

Pennington County seeks a Building Service Technician 1 to maintain facilities through custodial and preventive care. The role involves directing inmate workers and contractors in cleaning and maintenance inside and outside the facility.

Responsibilities include carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic repairs; supervising laundry and maintenance tasks; managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Direct inmate/client/detainee workers and contractors in proper methods of care and cleaning inside and outside of the facility.
• Clean and care for the facility as directed.
• Perform repair tasks, such as carpentry, painting and plumbing.
• Perform repairs on hand tools, power tools and equipment, and address simple electrical problems.
• Supervise laundry and maintenance work to ensure assigned duties are completed.
• Provide input on maintenance budget, both current and future.
• Maintain records relating to facility care and maintenance.
• Monitor tool and chemical inventory.
• Order supplies as necessary.
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with all county policies and procedures.

Education

HS Diploma or GED

One year of building maintenance experience

SD Driver's license within 90 days
