Job summary

Pennington County is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform skilled and semi-skilled work on county buildings, grounds, and equipment. Duties include carpentry, plumbing, electrical tasks, landscape maintenance, and operating county vehicles.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 8 months to 2 years of building maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation. Overtime and site travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 8 months to 2 years of basic building maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repair tasks using hand and power tools (carpentry, plumbing, electrical).
• Landscape maintenance including irrigation system operation and upkeep.
• Operate county vehicles and equipment; maintain work areas and yards.
• Respond to emergencies and weather-related closures to keep facilities operational.
• Complete work orders in a timely and competent manner.
