Job summary

Tarrant County in Fort Worth, TX seeks a skilled building maintenance worker responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs to HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and related duties in County buildings.

You will plan and execute repair projects, order supplies, assist with event setups, move furniture, supervise contractors, and comply with life safety and safety standards. A valid driver's license and HS diploma required; overtime and varying shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in building maintenance operations preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of commercial building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
• Valid driver's license.

Job description

Provides maintenance for County buildings through one of the following: preventive maintenance, equipment and machinery repairs, heating and air conditioning, carpentry or painting.

1. Plans repair, building or remodeling projects accordingly. Orders needed supplies.
2. Performs remodeling tasks for County buildings which may include one of the following skill sets being used by the incumbent: painting, carpentry or electrical work.
3. Repairs and maintains HVAC systems and associated building equipment.
4. Assists with moving furniture and office equipment.
5. Sets up furniture in specific configurations for special events.
6. Performs plumbing repairs.
7. Assists and supervises the work of contractors and vendors.
8. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

• Two (2) years experience in building maintenance operations.
• Must have working knowledge of commercial building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
• Valid driver's license.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to climb, walk, lift, stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, push and pull. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and/or electrical hazards. Exposed to outside weather conditions on an occasional basis. This position may require overtime, rotating shifts nights, evenings, weekends and holiday work. Candidates must have the ability to pass a criminal background investigation prior to employment.
