Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities Technician to join our Properties team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a broad skill set in building maintenance, including basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs. They take pride in keeping facilities safe, functional, and presentable, and are comfortable working independently or as part of a team. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys variety in their workday, takes initiative, and is committed to maintaining a clean and well-functioning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general handyman tasks including basic carpentry, drywall patching, painting, and furniture repairs.
- Complete basic maintenance and preventative tasks to maintain building systems and equipment such as lighting, doors, locks, and HVAC filters.
- Handle routine plumbing repairs (e.g., unclogging drains, fixing leaks, replacing fixtures).
- Perform minor electrical work such as replacing light fixtures, outlets, and switches.
- Assist with moving furniture, setting up workspaces or events, and minor remodeling tasks.
- Assist other departments with preventative maintenance to company equipment.
- Work closely with the Aviation Line Service team to provide assistance to the airport flight line when needed.
- Escort vendors and contractors for specialized work or larger repairs.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Work independently and actively seek out new ways to handle all details on special projects in maintaining the facility.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized state.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with applicable regulations for all facility maintenance and inspections.
- Perform other odd jobs and responsibilities as tasked to maintain an efficient and functioning facility.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in general building maintenance or handyman work.
- Previous HVAC and/or electrical experience is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Broad knowledge of basic repair techniques for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong troubleshooting and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office).
- Manual dexterity; must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Familiarity with safety codes and OSHA regulations is a plus.
Certifications, Licenses, & Badging
- Ability to attain Love Field Badge.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Tradeschool, technical certification, or relevant handyman certifications are a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to various weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to loud noise levels in and around their work environment. The physical demands regularly required include frequently squatting, crawling, climbing ladders, along with the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
