Job summary

Washington Nationals is seeking an Engineer II to maintain and optimize building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and climate control. The role supports roofing, telecom, and janitorial tasks as needed while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent with 2–3+ years of mechanical experience. HVAC/electrical/plumbing training is preferred; familiarity with Building Management Systems and MS Office is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC, electrical or plumbing vocational or higher training preferred.
  • 2–3+ years of mechanical engineering experience including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment.
  • Performs routine inspections to detect wear, malfunctions, or breakdowns.
  • Diagnoses causes of malfunctions and locates sources of problems.
  • Prevents service curtailment by anticipating potential failures.
  • Operates auxiliary supply systems and coordinates shutdowns/startups of utilities.
  • Works with vendors and contractors for maintenance and repair of systems.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other regulations.
  • Assists with emergency action plans and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Operates light equipment and processes work orders.
  • Supports cleaning, janitorial tasks, and general labor as needed.
