Job summary

CBRE in Washington, DC is seeking a Building Engineer to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems including plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling to ensure operations run safely and efficiently.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent with 4-5 years of experience, may hold Universal CFC certification, and are able to manage preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and coordination with other teams.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of job-related experience.
  • Universal CFC certification preferred; other licenses may be required by local jurisdictions.
  • Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on analysis from multiple sources of information.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
  • Operate energy management program for efficient system performance.
  • Assist preventive maintenance to meet design life; perform emergency repairs.
  • Follow policies for storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Review building inspections to ensure equipment operates within design specs.
  • Share knowledge and coach colleagues within the function.
