Job description

About the Company

We are a leading aerospace manufacturing organization with operations spanning multiple facilities throughout the United States and Mexico. Supporting more than 1,000 employees and operating over 1,000,000 square feet of manufacturing space, the company delivers complex assemblies, precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, automated manufacturing, testing, and integrated aerospace systems for commercial and defense customers.

Position Summary

We're seeking an experienced, highly motivated Facilities Capital Projects Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of strategic capital projects across a growing aerospace manufacturing enterprise. Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities & Capital Projects, this role owns the full lifecycle of capital projects — concept, quoting, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contractor management, installation, commissioning, and closeout — across equipment, automation, facility expansions, and infrastructure upgrades. The successful candidate will be a key leader in modernizing and expanding the company's facilities and manufacturing technologies while supporting operational excellence organization-wide.

  • Lead capital projects from initial concept through final implementation, including scopes, schedules, budgets, business justifications, and capital appropriation requests.
  • Manage equipment acquisition (CNC machine tools, automation systems, material handling) and facility expansion, renovation, and production line relocation projects.
  • Coordinate facility readiness for new equipment and processes — electrical, compressed air, HVAC, structural, utility, and controls integration — through installation, commissioning, and startup.
  • Ensure projects hit cost, schedule, quality, and safety targets, maintaining detailed schedules and critical path plans.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
  • Serve as primary liaison between Facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, Production, HR, EHS, Finance, Supply Chain, and executive leadership throughout project execution.
  • Act as primary point of contact for contractors, architects, engineers, equipment suppliers, and consultants; develop RFQs, evaluate proposals, and negotiate scope, pricing, and schedules.
  • Monitor contractor performance and safety compliance; lead status meetings and coordinate contractor activities.
  • Coordinate with HR and department leadership on workforce planning, workspace changes, and organizational readiness tied to capital projects.
  • Develop and manage capital expenditure budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare ROI analyses, payback calculations, and business cases supporting capital investments.
  • Monitor expenditures against approved budgets and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, building codes, and company safety standards.
  • Conduct project risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
  • Support regulatory and customer audits, and promote a culture of safety among employees and contractors.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in manufacturing, industrial construction, aerospace, or facilities — including multiple concurrent projects ranging from several hundred thousand to multi‑million‑dollar budgets.
  • Strong contractor management and cross‑functional leadership track record; aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents; strong financial analysis and project controls skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • PMP, CCM, or Lean Six Sigma certification a plus.
