A growing industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Capital Projects Engineer to support facility expansions, operational improvements, equipment upgrades, and new production initiatives. What You'll Do
- Manage multiple capital projects focused on manufacturing improvements, equipment installations, facility upgrades, and production expansion.
- Coordinate project activities from initial planning through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final turnover.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address technical, schedule, and budget risks.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and external contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Support capital approval processes through project justifications, cost estimates, and business case development.
- Oversee contractor performance and ensure compliance with site safety and quality expectations.
Manufacturing & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, equipment performance, and overall plant effectiveness.
- Support initiatives focused on increasing throughput, reducing downtime, and improving product consistency.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for recurring operational issues.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts using structured problem-solving methodologies and data analysis.
- Partner with production teams to optimize workflows and improve operational performance.
Technical & Engineering Support
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing processes, equipment systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Assist with equipment selection, vendor evaluations, and installation planning.
- Support commissioning activities, startup troubleshooting, and operational readiness reviews.
- Ensure projects meet applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of experience supporting projects within a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, metals, materials, or process production environment.
- Experience managing engineering projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience interpreting operational data and developing technical recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, engineering software, or CAD tools.
Preferred
- Experience with capital project execution in a manufacturing facility.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of process equipment, plant utilities, and production systems.
- Knowledge of project budgeting, scheduling, and contractor management.
