Job summary

BRC in New York seeks a Facilities Porter to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across residential, shelter, and program facilities. You will perform custodial services, basic maintenance support, and waste management while upholding safety and compliance standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, strong attention to detail, and excellent customer service as you interact with clients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• One year or more of custodial or janitorial experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation, and workplace safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily custodial duties across residential, shelter, and office environments.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and disinfect common areas and restrooms.
• Collect and dispose of trash, recycling, and waste materials.
• Monitor supplies and restock cleaning products and restroom items.
• Assist with setup of furniture, equipment, and supplies for meetings and events.
• Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to supervisors.
• Support light maintenance tasks such as changing bulbs.
• Maintain cleaning logs and documentation.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients, staff, and visitors.
