Job summary

BRC is seeking a dedicated Facilities Porter to maintain clean, safe environments across its residential, shelter, and program facilities in New York. You will perform custodial tasks, assist with light maintenance, and help ensure readiness for meetings and events while upholding safety standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and excellent customer service as you support clients, staff, and visitors throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Experience in custodial services or facilities maintenance is required or preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation, and workplace safety practices.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties in residential, shelter, and office environments.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and disinfect common areas and restrooms.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling, maintain cleanliness of kitchens and dining areas.
• Monitor supplies and restock as needed.
• Assist with setup and teardown for meetings and events.
• Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to supervisors.
• Assist maintenance staff with light tasks and tool handling.
• Communicate needs to Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Manager.
• Provide courteous service to clients, staff, and visitors.
• Respond to spills and cleaning emergencies promptly.
