Job summary

BRC is seeking a Facilities Porter to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across residential, shelter, and program facilities in New York. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform custodial duties, basic maintenance, sanitation, waste management, and inspections to support operations and client well-being.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of custodial or facilities experience, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and a strong

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 1+ year custodial or facilities experience in similar settings.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation, and safety practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use cleaning tools safely.
• Detail-oriented with strong customer service and teamwork.
• Willingness to work in multi-site residential, shelter, and office environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties across facilities.
• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect common areas, restrooms, and kitchens.
• Collect and dispose of waste; restock supplies.
• Support setup for meetings and events; assist with light maintenance.
• Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to supervisor.
• Maintain cleaning logs and documentation; provide excellent service.
