Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Facilities Porter to maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment across residential, shelter, and program facilities in New York City. You will support custodial tasks, sanitation, waste management, and basic maintenance, helping ensure a dignified setting for clients and staff.

The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 1+ year in custodial or related services.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation, and safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties.
• Ability to follow work orders and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and customer service.
• Bilingual proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties in residential, shelter, and office environments.
• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect common areas, restrooms, kitchens, and client spaces.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling.
• Restock cleaning and restroom supplies.
• Set up facilities for meetings and events.
• Report maintenance issues and safety hazards.
• Assist maintenance staff with light repairs and bulb changes.
• Maintain cleaning logs and operational documentation.
