Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of three years demonstrated experience working in building maintenance.
  • Must be able to work weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to stand and lift up to 70 pounds and perform bending and lifting tasks.
  • Able to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Assist with garbage removal per NYC sanitation guidelines and deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of the Shelter building and environment, including offices, kitchens, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Inspect the property daily and address safety issues; perform basic maintenance and repairs as assigned.
  • Assist with on-site projects (painting, installing, repairing) and upkeep of resident areas.
  • Receive deliveries and log packages; coordinate with facility manager for recipient delivery.
  • Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and remove garbage; support snow/ice removal as needed.
  • Collaborate with contracted specialists for seasonal or specialty tasks and ensure safe, clean grounds.
