Job summary

CFH (Care for the Homeless) in New York City seeks a Porter for Residential Services to keep the Shelter building and surrounding areas clean and safe. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of three years in building maintenance.
• Ability to stand and lift up to 70 pounds and perform bending and kneeling.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
• Ability to assist with sanitation guidelines and garbage disposal.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the Shelter building and environment (office areas, kitchen, restrooms, and common areas).
• Inspect the building daily and address safety issues; perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Receive deliveries and move items to appropriate locations; log packages with facility manager.
• Coordinate with facility manager and contracted specialists for seasonal or specialty tasks.
• Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and perform snow/ice removal as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
