Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin, Center for Space Research, is seeking a reliable Student Assistant to support office moving and facilities tasks at the Pickle Research Campus. This on-site role will help with clean-out, packing, lifting, and basic organization, with a 20-hour weekly schedule and a start date of August 17, 2026.

Candidates should be dependable, able to lift up to 75 lbs, and comfortable working around storage areas and occupied offices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 75 lbs with or without accommodation.
  • Dependable, punctual and able to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to perform physical work.
  • Professional and respectful when working in occupied office areas.
  • Prior moving or facilities experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend and move frequently during the shift.
  • Comfortable in storage areas around boxed materials and furniture.

Responsibilities

  • Clean out offices, workrooms, and storage spaces.
  • Sort, box, and move files and records (including moving filing cabinets).
  • Move and rearrange office furniture and equipment.
  • Assist with basic office organization and set-up.
  • Help prepare surplus items for pickup/disposal according to unit procedures.
  • Perform light cleaning tasks associated with moves.
  • Other duties as assigned to support office moves and facilities projects.
