Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to service and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in our Fairfax Square properties near Washington, DC. You will assist with carpentry, locksmithing, and painting, while supporting engineers and maintenance staff on major tasks.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in related trades, excellent English, and the ability to work overtime. Expect a regular, scheduled shift and on-site duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in stationary engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection or general facilities maintenance.
• Ability to repair building systems using common tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, gauges, multimeters, and lubrication equipment.
• Excellent English communication and basic arithmetic.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems in assigned properties.
• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance per standards and document actions in the service system.
• Respond quickly to tenant requests and document actions in the service request system.
• Perform general building maintenance including re-lamping, painting, and locksmithing.
• Keep spaces clean, safe, and compliant with company policies.
• Maintain logs and forms in paper and electronic data systems.
