Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a maintenance technician to ensure high-quality upkeep across our communities in Washington, DC. You will diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry issues, respond to resident requests, and perform preventive maintenance to sustain excellent living environments.

The role requires a high-school diploma and 2 years of maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of maintenance experience in apartments, hotels, or similar environment with standards of service.
• Ability to diagnose and repair HVAC equipment and appliances; working knowledge of plumbing fixtures, basic electrical circuitry, carpentry, and use of power and hand tools.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation including on-call hours.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds including supplies and appliances.

• HVAC, CFC certification preferred (required at some communities) and plumbing/electrical certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in making all units ready for move-in.
• Respond to resident work orders to diagnose and correct HVAC, appliance, plumbing, electrical and carpentry issues.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on building systems.
• Inspect the community daily to identify maintenance or repair needs.
• Clear snow and ice during inclement weather.
• Work a flexible schedule and share on-call duty with 30-minute emergency response.
