Job summary

Tufts University seeks a Facilities Manager to oversee daily operations, maintenance, and staff on second shift across multiple campus facilities. You will supervise a union workforce, coordinate with OCC, and ensure safe, cost-effective operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in a related field (or equivalent).
• 7+ years of experience or equivalent in facilities, maintenance, or operations.
• 2 years in a supervisory role in facilities/maintenance/operations.
• Knowledge of building trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry.
• Familiar with codes/regulations for university facilities.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cost management.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of facilities, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and functionality.
• Manage union workforce for routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
• Administer building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety) meeting standards.
• Execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and costs.
• Maintain equipment asset inventory and reports.
• Coordinate with OCC and stakeholders; respond to facility emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and proper documentation.
