Job Purpose
The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall condition of both Atlanta Ronald McDonald House locations. This position ensures that all building systems, grounds, and infrastructure operate efficiently and align with regulatory, safety, and brand standards. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring availability Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening, weekend, and on-call responsibilities.
Essential Functions
Maintenance & Safety Oversight
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance as needed.
- Ensure fire pump/sprinkler systems, fire alarms, smoke detectors, and safety signage are operational and up to code.
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and ensure proper record-keeping for warranties, inspections, and repairs.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal building and safety codes.
- Ensure all permits and inspections are up to date and accessible for both Houses.
- Maintain LEED compliance standards as applicable.
Team & Contractor Management
- Supervise and manage all Facilities staff, including the Facilities Coordinator, housekeeping personnel, and any maintenance or groundskeeping teams.
- Coordinate with and oversee external contractors and vendors to ensure quality and timeliness of services.
- Provide training to staff on equipment use and facility procedures to promote safety and accountability.
Budget & Compliance Oversight
- Manage the facilities department budget; monitor monthly financials to ensure proper coding and budget alignment.
- Review utility consumption reports and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards required by Ronald McDonald House Charities.
General House Operations
- Keep storage and maintenance areas neat, safe, and organized.
- Serve as a visible and approachable team member in the House, promoting awareness of the mission and values of the Ronald McDonald House.
- Keep the Senior Director of Operations informed of all facility-related concerns and progress.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in facilities, building operations, or maintenance management.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise teams and manage vendor relationships.
- Proficient with computers and building management systems (e.g., CMMS).
- Strong communication, planning, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to emergencies.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in engineering, facilities management, or related field.
- Knowledge of LEED standards and energy-efficient facility practices.
