Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a Maintenance Utility Worker in Sumter, SC to support building and equipment maintenance, including cleaning, painting, and helping with deliveries.

You will operate floor scrubbers and forklifts, assist with routine maintenance, and participate in loading/unloading tasks with on-the-job training provided. This position offers overtime potential and the company benefits described in the posting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record are required.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Operate powered industrial equipment (forklifts, floor scrubbers, scissor lifts).
• Experience using basic hand and power tools is required.
• Ability to read, comprehend and interpret procedures and instructions in English.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize equipment to perform plant cleaning operations (floor scrubbers, dust removal devices, waste removal, cleaning).
• Perform painting tasks throughout plant or grounds.
• Operate forklifts/lifts to relocate materials.
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks.
• Assist with production receiving activities.
• Perform facilities upkeep including landscaping and snow removal.
• Conduct basic maintenance tasks and clean/inspect equipment with training.
• May operate company vehicles after training and certification.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
