Position Overview
As an Engineering Tech, you will uphold high standards in service quality, safety, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with guest services and housekeeping teams to ensure an exceptional guest experience, maintain safety protocols, and meet departmental objectives.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety and emergency guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Greet customers promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome. Use positive communication to understand requests, respond appropriately, and provide accurate information on hotel services and amenities.
- Perform general repairs including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, painting, refrigeration, electrical, video systems, and kitchen equipment as assigned.
- Adhere to daily work schedules to ensure proper coverage and efficient operations.
- Complete assigned tasks based on priority and facility needs.
- Participate in training across all areas and develop basic problem-solving skills.
- Attend shift meetings to communicate work updates and hotel issues.
- Support cross-training initiatives and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
- Communicate repair status effectively with team members and departments.
- Prioritize safety for employees, guests, and vendors; attend safety meetings regularly and support safety initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of spare parts and diagnose repair issues as needed.
- Support special projects such as the Perfect Room Program and Deep Clean Projects in collaboration with Housekeeping.
Guest Service Duties
- Respond promptly to inquiries via phone and email, document messages, and communicate guest needs to relevant staff.
- Ensure service standards are met, resolve guest complaints professionally, and promote positive guest sentiment.
- Provide local area recommendations and assist in booking activities to enhance guest experience.
- Complete checklists and shift reports accurately.
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhere to dress code, and uphold the hotel’s culture and values.
- Keep workstations and lobby areas clean and organized.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks and assist other departments as needed.
- Be available on call as required.
Minimum Requirements
- At least one year of experience in building maintenance or related field.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing systems such as HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and video systems.
- Certification or working knowledge in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical preferred.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and all relevant tools effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and staff.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including overtime when necessary.
- Proven ability to resolve guest issues efficiently.
