Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Maintenance Technician III in Madison, WI to perform preventive maintenance on facility systems including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and controls. The role involves CMMS work orders, project support and on-call responsibilities while aligning with GMP and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in maintenance, an associate degree or equivalent experience, and strong documentation, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electrical or mechanical maintenance-related field; or high school diploma with 2 years of related experience.
• 4+ years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or mechanical repair.
• 4+ years of experience operating hand tools, small power tools, multimeters and various test equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, and related facility systems.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals and blueprints.
• Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel macros and pivot tables and Word mail merge.
• Possession of a valid driver's license; no suspended, revoked, surrendered, invalid, etc. allowed.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Communicate facility and safety issues to Facilities Management and coordinate with internal customers, property owner and outside vendors.
• Assist in managing spare parts for facility utilities and supplies to minimize equipment downtime.
• Support electrical distribution, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air systems, fire and life safety systems and emergency power.
• Enter, prioritize and complete work orders in the CMMS system.
• Complete facility projects including furniture moves, mounting fixtures, remodeling and other improvements.
• Execute preventive and demand maintenance tasks with proper documentation and closure.
• Conduct building inspections and follow up actions per procedures.
• Respond to power outages and assist in restoration after weather events.
• Monitor facility system alarms and follow SOP/EHS requirements.
• Recommend changes to equipment to improve safety, performance, and reliability.
• Maintain GMP/OSHA/FDA/USDA compliance.
• Participate in on-call emergency service.
• Provide technical support with oversight from Sr Maintenance Technician.
