Job summary

The Polk County Facilities Department has an opening for a Maintenance Worker. This position performs intermediate technical work that includes building maintenance, remodel projects, and semi-skilled repair of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, boilers & HVAC systems.

The Maintenance Worker also operates the building management system and door systems. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and moderate experience in building maintenance, boilers and construction or equivalent

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; moderate experience in building maintenance, boilers, and construction or equivalent.
Experience in repairing and maintaining water pipe fixtures, plumbing, and custodial work preferred.

Responsibilities

Remove snow and salt walkways as needed.
Perform building maintenance: painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry; maintain heating and cooling systems.
Maintain daily log of time, equipment usage, and preventive maintenance; monitor boiler system.
Operate building management, life safety, and door systems.
Monitor inventory of supplies and materials.
Perform other duties as required.
