Job description

• Three (3) year’s experience in building maintenance repair, trades work and construction functions.
• Knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment of building maintenance and general repair work.
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards associated with building maintenance and repair work and of pertinent safety measures and precautions.
• Comfortable in the use and care of tools and equipment used in building maintenance and repair.
• Capable of reading blueprints, rough sketches and following oral and written instructions.

Job Description

Entry level work in connection with the maintenance and repair of municipal buildings, apparatus, and facilities. Works under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Worker II or the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

Position Responsibilities

• Assists with performing tasks in a variety of trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, plastering, sanding, refinishing floors and demolition and salvage work.
• Performs general tasks in the construction, renovation, modification, installation and repair of municipal buildings, apparatus and facilities.
• Builds and installs partitions, platforms, staging, counter-dividers, cubicles, and event set-up.
• Paints and decorates interiors and exteriors of buildings and other municipal facilities using spray guns, rollers, and brushes.
• Basic installation and repairs of fences, railings, ramps and docks.
• Perform custodial services for city facilities.
• Operates basic hand tools, power tools and power saws.

Educational & Technical Requirements

• High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
