Job summary

Hernando County is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to perform skilled work in the operation and maintenance of large county-owned buildings. The role requires expertise in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry, with responsibility for renovations and safety compliance.

Applicants should have 6+ years of related experience, valid Florida driver license, and certifications in FEMA NIMS within 3 months; EPA HVAC Type I/II certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required.
• Three years of experience in building, electrical, plumbing, construction, installation, repair or maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Valid Florida driver's license and insurability.
• Must obtain FEMA NIMS certifications within 3 months (IS-100.c, IS-200.b, IS-700.b).
• EPA HVAC refrigerant recovery certification Type I & II minimum or within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain large county-owned buildings.
• Install, repair, and service electrical equipment, pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
• Test and calibrate electrical systems and controls; read blueprints and diagrams.
• Perform carpentry and masonry tasks for renovations and new work.
• Ensure safety and code compliance; supervise maintenance staff as needed.
