Job summary

Buckeye Valley Family YMCA in Newark, OH is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to keep facilities and grounds in safe, clean, and functional condition. You will perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and setup for programs and events, while responding to work requests and coordinating with contractors.

The role involves seasonal outdoor tasks, safety checks, and daily custodial duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to work under limited supervision.
• Basic mechanical abilities.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance throughout the facility and grounds.
• Inspect buildings, equipment, fixtures, safety equipment, building systems, and facility areas to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns.
• Complete general facility repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, doors, locks, furniture, equipment, fixtures, and furnishings.
• Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
• Assist with preventative maintenance schedules and maintain accurate records of completed work.
• Maintain safe, functional, and attractive interior and exterior facility spaces.
• Assist with seasonal maintenance, including snow and ice removal, landscaping, weather-related preparations, and other outdoor tasks as needed.
• Set up, move, and take down tables, chairs, equipment, and other items for programs, events, and facility activities.
• Monitor facility conditions and promptly report significant maintenance needs, hazards, incidents, or equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers when directed.
• Safely operate motorized and stationary equipment as needed.
• In the absence of the primary custodian, maintain the cleanliness of LCFYMCA facilities by completing duties listed on the daily schedule, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window cleaning, vacuuming, and refilling restroom and locker room dispensers.
