Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Custodian/Maintenance worker to perform general cleaning, minor maintenance, and related duties to keep facilities safe, clean, and functional. The role involves assisting staff and visitors and may include painting, carpentry, and basic repairs.

Responsibilities include operating equipment, reporting repairs, ensuring security during shifts, and helping with snow removal and grounds upkeep. Candidates should be able to read instructions and handle cleaning chemicals safely.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Basic understanding of upkeep and care of equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Responsibilities

• Ensures YMCA is attractive and clean by completing daily duties and maintaining assigned areas and equipment.
• Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Records and reports maintenance needs; performs repairs as directed.
• Ensures building and property are secure during shift and reports hazards to supervisor.
• Makes minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
• Performs touch up and finish painting.
• Clears snow from entrances and walkways.
• Participates in general cleaning, painting, and repair work.
• Uses hand and power tools for minor maintenance repairs and grounds upkeep.
• Performs other duties as assigned
