Job summary

Winona County in Minnesota is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Worker to perform custodial, grounds, and building maintenance tasks across county facilities. The role involves maintaining safe operation of heating, cooling, and other mechanical systems while performing repairs to plumbing, electrical, and related equipment.

Under the supervision of the Fleet, Building and Grounds Superintendent, you may oversee non-County workers and must be available for shift and weekend work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of custodial or building maintenance experience is highly desired.
• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Knowledge of building maintenance practices.
• Knowledge and skill in maintaining electrical, heating/cooling, fuel, plumbing, ventilation, and fire protection systems.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments.
• Ability to deal tactfully with the public and coworkers.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills including internet, email, Help Desk and Building Management Programs.
• Ability to report to work within 45 minutes.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial and grounds maintenance across county buildings.
• Maintain safe and efficient operation of HVAC, boilers, pumps, and mechanical systems.
• Repair plumbing, heating, electrical, and related systems.
• Operate ground equipment and assist in safety drills and county safety program.
• Perform preventive and routine maintenance and assist in safety compliance.
