Job summary

Jobtailor in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and keep plant utilities running efficiently.

You will work with HVAC systems, power distribution, control systems, and use CMMS to document work orders. Strong teamwork and safety focus required.

This full-time role requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, overtime and weekend work as needed, and solid technical troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with technical training.
  • 5 years accumulative experience in building maintenance and/or utility maintenance.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and practice safety in accordance with all safety guidelines
  • Lead efforts to improve productivity
  • Use hand and power tools, precision measuring and alignment instruments, and electrical/electronic test equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance to maintain machine operation, utility efficiency, and equipment uptime
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions and improve efficiency
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective actions using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs
  • Maintain utility systems including compressors, boilers, chillers, and water systems
  • Work with HVAC operations and controls
  • Maintain mechanical power transfer systems including gear reducers, chain/belt drives, direct drives, bearings, shafts, and couplings
  • Work with 480-volt three-phase power distribution, including transformers, Motor Control Centers, and power panels
  • Work with 120- and 24-volt discrete control and 4–20mA analog control systems
  • Work with pneumatic control valve actuators and solenoid devices
  • Document work performed, hours, parts, and follow-up work in maintenance work orders
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job description

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including technical training experience
  • 5 years accumulative experience in building maintenance and/or utility maintenance
  • Strong plumbing skills preferred
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft applications and CMMS experience
  • Prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • HVAC experience/certification a plus
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and strong communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and technical troubleshooting abilitiesHigh sense of urgency and customer support
  • Self-motivation and pride of craftsmanship
  • Ability to work extended hours while standing
  • Good job performance and attendance records
