Job summary

  • Monitor and adjust equipment, perform PMs, and document results.
  • Lead safety initiatives and conduct shift rounds.
  • Troubleshoot and repair utility issues; submit work orders as needed.
  • Maintain water and wastewater records and monitor quality.

Job description

  • Operate and maintain site utility systems, including steam boilers, thermal oxidizer, compressed air, ammonia and glycol refrigeration, building HVAC, wastewater treatment, and general facility systems
  • Manufacture consumer foods in compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Support McCalla safety program policies and identify unsafe work conditions
  • Monitor ammonia refrigeration temperature control, take readings, adjust equipment, perform PMs, and update PSM documentation
  • Operate and maintain thermal oxidizer and steam boilers, including water tests and condensate return system
  • Operate and maintain compressed air systems, including compressors, air dryers, receivers, and dry cooling tower
  • Monitor and maintain hot water, jacket hot water, city water, and wastewater systems
  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant, including screened solids disposal, pH treatment, and wastewater neutralization
  • Keep precise water and wastewater records
  • Operate and maintain site HVAC equipment, including temperature control, filter and belt changes, cleaning, and PMs
  • Maintain general facility systems, including office repairs, roof leak repairs, and lighting replacements
  • Lead team failure analysis activities
  • Conduct shift rounds, troubleshoot and repair utility issues, or submit work orders
  • Set up the next shift and communicate utility failures, actions, resolutions, and risks to leadership
  • Support data collection and documentation efforts in the utilities department
  • Improve the area of ownership through OPLs, job aids, and PM improvements
  • Build skills through technical training, vendor visits, and scheduled maintenance
  • Provide support throughout other parts of the plant and perform assigned duties

  • Previous experience with HVAC, combustion, and refrigeration systems (desired)
  • Previous food manufacturing experience (desired)
  • 5+ years of mechanical/maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (desired)
  • Experience utilizing Oracle (desired)
  • Working knowledge of utility plant controls and instrumentation (desired)
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and align pumps and motors (desired)
