Job summary

GEO Secured Services is seeking a maintenance specialist to join our on-site team. You will operate and supervise maintenance tasks across plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical disciplines within a correctional/facility environment.

You will lead a team of detainee maintenance staff, ensure proper materials, and perform preventative and corrective work while maintaining safety and security standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years general maintenance and/or related construction trade.
• Valid, active driver's license.
• Knowledge of equipment necessary for making proper repairs.
• Able to perform general plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Effectively communicate with residents and staff; react quickly and appropriately in an emergency situation.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must have resided within the United States or its territories for three (3) or more years out of the last five (5) years OR worked for the United States overseas for the Federal Government or US Military OR been a dependent of an employee who worked for the United States overseas for the Federal Government or US Military.

Responsibilities

• Operate maintenance equipment for preventive and corrective tasks.
• Survey jobs and ensure materials and tools are available.
• Direct and inspect detainee maintenance staff; provide technical assistance.
• Perform carpentry to repair or replace doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, etc.
• Carry out repairs for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
• Perform electrical work including lighting fixtures and wiring.
• Execute minor construction work with hand and power tools.
• Complete mechanical work involving facility machinery, motors, and vehicles.
• Assist in maintaining the security of assigned detainees.
