Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a maintenance specialist to support on-site facilities through preventive, corrective, and emergency repairs. You will perform plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical tasks and supervise detainee maintenance staff to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Typical duties include inspecting jobs, ensuring proper materials are on hand, and maintaining security while delivering high-quality workmanship in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of general maintenance and/or related construction trade experience.
• Valid, active driver’s license is required.
• Ability to perform general plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff, and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and machinery for preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
• Survey assigned jobs and ensure materials and tools are on hand.
• Direct and inspect the work of detainee maintenance staff, providing technical assistance.
• Perform carpentry to repair or replace doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, etc.
• Carry out repairs for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
• Perform electrical work, including fixtures, wiring, and switches.
• Execute minor construction work with hand and power tools.
• Complete mechanical work on facility machinery, motors, and vehicles.
• Assist in maintaining detainee security.
