Job summary

Artesia Palms Care Center in Artesia, NM, seeks a dedicated maintenance worker to keep grounds, facility, and equipment safe and functional in line with federal, state, and local standards.

You will follow maintenance schedules, report incidents, coordinate with nursing staff, perform repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry), and maintain supplies and cleanliness. Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
• Ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas.
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
• Mathematical Skills: apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Reasoning Ability: solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
• Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., as necessary/directed.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc.
• Service heating and cooling units/systems as specified by the manufacturer.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
