Job summary

Frederick County Government is seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems across county buildings. You will supervise Maintenance Technicians and private contractors, set objectives and monitor performance while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires leadership, budget awareness, and the ability to coordinate projects with internal teams, vendors, and facilities staff.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
6+ years progressively responsible mechanical trade experience.
2+ years supervisory experience.
Maryland Master HVAC or Electrical license required.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Establish objectives for staff; supervise, review performance and conduct evaluations.
Supervise leave approval, timesheets, and staff scheduling.
Monitor budgets and assist with department budget processes.
Prepare price proposals (RFPs/IFBs) for materials/services.
Oversee maintenance and repair of mechanical systems to OSHA/MOSH standards.
Coordinate work with outside contractors and ensure quality control.
Inspect work, estimate material quantities, and manage project timelines.
Coordinate permits and inspections as required.
Maintain preventive maintenance programs and CMMS data.
Respond to maintenance issues and drive County vehicle as needed.
