Job summary

Frederick County Government is seeking a skilled public works supervisor to assist in development, implementation and scheduling of highway maintenance. The role oversees foreman and contractors, helps establish budgets, and conducts employee evaluations.

This position requires a degree or equivalent experience, valid driver's license, and strong knowledge of fleet operations, safety, GIS/GPS, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in public administration, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years in public works operations with at least 3 years supervising staff.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Substitutions: Bachelor's degree with 3 years supervising staff; or High School Diploma with 7 years and 3 years supervising.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, execute, and inspect work performed by county personnel and contractors
• Obtain permits for waterway construction and lay out construction sites, including elevations and site preparation tasks
• Perform data entry
• Assist Assistant Department Head as needed
• Oversee and support Foreman/Assistant Foreman
• Resolve citizens' concerns, complaints and work requests
• Address personnel issues as needed
• Perform other related duties as required
