Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have a boiler operator license and willingness to obtain a 2nd class and 1st class boiler operators license as soon as permitted by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
• Valid driver’s license with driving record acceptable to District insurance carrier
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Evidence of excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills for operation of a personal computer, energy management system and tank monitoring systems.
• Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to organize and maintain records
• Demonstrated accurate mathematical skills
• Customer service oriented with positive interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and orally
• Strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Delivers interschool mail and packages daily with district vehicle and transfers materials between buildings and offsite warehouse.
• Responds to after-hours maintenance emergencies district-wide.
• Performs scheduled repairs to maintain buildings, including carpentry, painting, and general maintenance.
• Inspects and maintains HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
• Works with other trades on larger projects and repairs equipment like desks, chairs, tables and lockers.
• Coordinates grounds maintenance duties such as snow removal, mowing, trimming and debris cleanup.
• Operates boilers, water heaters, compressors and other pressure vessels in line with state statutes; tests and maintains chemical levels.
• Makes emergency repairs to heating, cooling and refrigeration systems and assists with inventory management.
• Assists other specialists and custodial personnel as directed and performs other related duties.
