Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is hiring a Maintenance Specialist for district-wide custodial and maintenance tasks. There is an 8-hour, 12-month schedule with a first shift from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The role requires a boiler operator license (special) and a willingness to obtain 2nd and 1st class licenses as permitted by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. A valid driver’s license and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Boiler operator licenses required or willingness to obtain 2nd class and 1st class boiler licenses as allowed by MDL&I.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills for operation of a PC and energy management systems.
• Detail oriented with ability to organize and maintain records.
• Strong communication skills both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Delivers interschool mail and packages daily using district vehicle and transfers materials from buildings and offsite warehouse.
• Responds to after-hours maintenance emergencies district-wide.
• Performs repairs including carpentry, painting, general maintenance and grounds care.
• Inspects and maintains HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
• Collaborates with electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and painters on larger projects.
• Repairs school furniture and general equipment.
• Performs maintenance on lighting ballasts, switches, motors, valves and outlets.
• Maintains schedule for preventive maintenance of specialty equipment.
• Coordinates grounds duties including snow removal and mowing.
• Assists other maintenance specialists with deliveries and shipping/receiving.
• Operates boilers, water heaters, compressors and pressure vessels per state statutes and tests chemical levels.
• Makes emergency repairs to building systems and updates inventory of supplies.
• Supports custodial staff and other specialists as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
