New Ulm is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician under the Financial Manager to maintain and repair public buildings and properties. The role ensures a safe, functional, and welcoming environment through inspections, preventive maintenance, and occasional after-hours response.

Responsibilities include maintaining electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems, managing digital work orders, coordinating with vendors, and keeping accurate records.

Competenze

• Know custodial methods and safe chemical handling.
• Understand basic mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting.
• Familiar with HVAC, hydronic heating, irrigation systems and preventive maintenance.
• Strong organizational skills for records and inventories.
• Able to use hand and power tools and outdoor equipment.
• Interpreting technical documents such as meters, gauges, blueprints, maintenance manuals.

• Record inspection, maintenance and replacement activities via digital work orders.
• Develop and update preventative maintenance schedules and templates.
• Maintain regulatory compliance records (elevator safety, SDS).
• Budgetary needs communication to supervisor.
• Organize and inventory tools and supplies.
• Inspect and maintain fire extinguishers, alarms, HVAC maintenance.
• Coordinate testing of safety systems and maintenance of fleet vehicles.
• Coordinate vendor and contractor activities and manage projects.
