Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Facility Service Specialist to maintain and repair assigned buildings, coordinating internal maintenance personnel or contractor vendors as needed.

You will plan and execute basic repairs, inspect sites for maintenance needs and safety issues, and coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely, compliant services. Strong documentation, reporting, and budget awareness are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years relevant work experience. Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
• Knowledge of facility maintenance, safety practices, and contract monitoring.
• Ability to coordinate with contractors, vendors and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Plans and performs basic building repairs and participates in construction/installation activities on assigned projects.
• Conducts site inspections and reports on maintenance needs and safety violations.
• Coordinates with contractors, vendors, and other divisions providing maintenance, repairs, and moves to assigned buildings.
• Calculates figures and compiles data for reports and cost estimates.
