The City of Austin is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to service assigned buildings and coordinate with contractors and internal teams. This role ensures safe, efficient operation of facilities and adherence to city standards.

Purpose: This position is responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to assigned buildings, including coordination of internal maintenance personnel or contractor vendors.
Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised: None
Ability to bend, lift, walk, carry, or use a force equal to lifting to fifty (50) pounds.
This position requires individuals to work in all weather conditions, performing maintenance and repairs in a rural environment and at other Austin Water facilities, with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include general and preventive maintenance of components such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, septic systems, and water well systems. Additionally, proficiency in maintaining high game fences (chain-link) is required. The role also involves monitoring multiple contracts and contractors when the workload exceeds the position's scope.
This position has been designated as essential for the City of Austin. Essential positions are responsible for maintaining emergency services or providing public health, safety, utility services, and the welfare of the community. In the event of a designated emergency, employees in this role will be called back or retained to assist with operations and recovery efforts.
$31.39 - $39.24 per hour

Monday Through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
This position requires a valid Texas Class C Driver's License or the ability to obtain one by your hire date. External new hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requirements. To be eligible for a driving position, applicants must not have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driving Record Evaluation (DRE) points within the past thirty-six (36) months.
