Job summary

Penn State University in Abington is seeking a full-time General Helper-Repairer (Abington) to join the facilities team. Duties include cleaning, routine maintenance on heating, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks across residence halls and campus buildings. The role requires 9–12 months of experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to perform standard maintenance duties with basic arithmetic and reporting.

Work schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with weekends off.

Qualifications

9 to 12 months of effective experience
Background checks required including motor vehicle records check
Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, buff, and clean buildings and storerooms
Make routine maintenance repairs to heating equipment
Perform routine electrical maintenance including lighting fixtures, switches and outlets
Interior maintenance painting of buildings and equipment
Minor carpentry work and drywall repair
Lock and unlock residence halls and reinstall locks
Operate university vehicle and perform basic vehicle checks
Replace interior/exterior lightbulbs and fuses
Check smoke detectors
Move equipment and furniture
Assist in collection and delivery of laundry items
Maintain inventory of tools and equipment
Notify supervisor of needed repairs
