Job summary

Penn State is seeking a full-time General Helper-Repairer (Abington) to join the facilities team. The role covers cleaning, routine maintenance, and minor repairs across heating, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and related systems in residence halls and buildings.

The position requires basic English, arithmetic, and 9–12 months of hands-on maintenance experience. Day-to-day duties include tool inventory, safety checks, and assisting with deliveries and setups on campus.

Qualifications

• Requires basic maintenance experience and ability to perform a range of trades.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, buff and clean buildings and storerooms.
• Perform routine heating equipment maintenance and valve replacements.
• Electrical maintenance: replace light fixtures, ballasts, starters, emergency lights, switches, outlets.
