Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is hiring a full-time Residence Hall Utility Worker to support operations in the residence halls. Duties include cleaning, trash removal, moving items, and basic maintenance under supervision, with a 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting and carrying out instructions.
• On-the-job training typically 1–2 months.
• Background checks and clearances may be required.

Responsibilities

• Empty and clean waste containers and remove trash from buildings.
• Move bags, carts, and linens to storage or receiving areas as needed.
• Receive, move, sort, store and deliver equipment and supplies; assist with set-up.
• Clean floors, stairs and carpets; vacuum and mop as directed.
• Lock/unlock buildings and turn off lights; report maintenance issues.
• Substitute for residence hall worker as requested.
